Founded in the 8th Century from the formation of the Berr and Ree family empires in the valleys of the Western Alps, Berrean has steadily developed itself as a major Western European nation. Since the 9th Century, Berrean has been ruled by the Berra Family (formerly known as 'Berr'), with an unbroken line of monarchs. The nation is currently lead by the head of the Monarchist Party, King James XVI (b.1988) after taking over from his father King Stephen V (b.1942) in 2013. Since 1950, following the failed revolution of 1948, the nation has been a parliamentary democracy with the Monarchist Party leading since then.
